NEWS 2019

THE PERFECT STORM

Since its emergence in the late-2000s, the British Folk Horror movement has been recuperated via the spectacle media such as the BBC, the Guardian, the New Statesman and VICE, due to the powers-that-be recognising its insurrectionary threat. (The same recuperation process has also occurred to the earlier-upsurged British neo-Hauntology movement, courtesy of the BBC, the Guardian, and the New Statesman.) Thus the prime movers of the cult - who experienced folk horror media when it orginally manifested, mostly during the 1970s - have taken their moon-bathed cauldron underground to cook up the next stage. I am sworn to secrecy as to the core ploy, suffice to say that this is the real wicker, over the hills and far away.

A TREMOR IN THE WEB

Space, yes, away, but we grow up believing. I have been drawn into Anarcho-Gnosticism, but have now dropped the anarchism part, because true gnosticism is already anarchic. What the way is? Getting into the deeper, liminal, out-there, visionary awareness state by whatever means, thus leaving the 'normal' world behind. In the otherwhere more is possible; one is closer to the source. This is how I know. Hence my new existentialist poem, Psycho Ripper Tongue Out, that can be experienced in video version here.

MEDIA DECEPTIVES

In the early-1980s the Compact Disk (CD) was heralded as virtually indestructable, with mainstream mouthpieces deliberately scratching one (but not playing it afterwards) or even pouring honey then coffee on one (then pretending to play it) to demonstrate how supposedly tough CDs are. If they lie big to you once they will lie big to you again, so don't believe anything they say. (Incidentally, the first-ever record to be pressed on CD 'just happened' to be ABBA's final studio album The Visitors [1981]: the same name that possible mind-control victim, conscious agent or genuine experiencer Whitley Strieber gave to his [alien or otherwise] abductors in his notorious Communion: A True Story [Beech Tree Books, 1987], a widely-puffed "publishing sensation" which forced many people to have similar experiences.)

Akin to the CD, Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is now touted as superior, having squawk-free reception, but the transmitted audio is often not CD quality which we were led to believe. To get the best signal out of a DAB radio you have to put it very near a window or actually on the windowsill, where the Sun comes through and a radiator is beneath, making it hot: the bane of electronics, and some stations go garbled at midnight or on the hour so one has to tune them in again. Even in the everyday it shits. Just when I thought I had it in the sweet spot I turned my computer on and the reception got overnoised. Unlistenable. How in the actual fuck can a computer situated nine feet away from the radio adversely affect the signal? Even washing machines mess with the reception. (I tried adding a longwire to the telescopic aerial but it didn't seem to improve things, although the forum I consulted mentioned how "RF [Radio Frequency] is a black art," that directly codes to other occults I've registered this month, such as "You should be a Galactic Channel" and "You'd make a great Quantum Advisor," courtesy of the singing overhead powerlines.) Many DAB radios are mono (ridiculous), do not have an external antenna or line-in socket, nor bass, treble (or even a tone) control, and are so poorly constructed it's a wonder they pick up anything at all. Chronic systems. Ulterior motives. One of the rarer unmodulated tests.

PASSING THROUGH TO A DEGREE

COUNTRYWIDE TRANSMISSIONS

I have always been interested, nay fascinated, with Radio Free Europe (RFE) and Radio Liberty (RL), both originally sprung by the CIA in the early-1950s as an anti-Soviet operation, but "all CIA involvement ended" in 1971 and the two stations merged each other in 1976, according to its words. Was a hoot listening stoned to their 1990s shortwave shows, the presenters speaking deliberately slowly in very Simplified English about how cool American astronauts and oil wells, etc., were (or am I thinking of the Voice of America [VOA], indeed any rigged-system masturbator?). Suppose I fantasised about working for them, probably in Ultravox Vienna or more remote, editing texts on a manual typewriter with a quizzical eye, club whisky and premium cigs plus a cute shining female co-worker, Adamant Eve from latent to blatant in the monitoring hut.

The rustle of papers ape the inverted commas get a raise for the odd courier trip backstreet restaurant bunker entrance aka "Finding the Mountain". Cold steel against the textbook, her thighs double-agents playing one off against the other, eleventh hour, extremely interesting pills, timeless golf-chic apparel in blanched raincoat "providing highly-biased uncensored news." Up and coming against a wicked and vicious enemy, missions within missions, amazing fieldcraft tints. Our target six-shooter Hankerchief Man. Hair like a startled sea cucumber, lost on bridges. Receives his orders straight from Radio Peking on the public bandwidth like the naive-deluded Paris communist cell in Jean-Luc Godard's La Chinoise (1967) and the real-life 1968 upsurgers raped by CS Gas developed in the 1950s at Porton Down in England, alongside more everlasting solution substances (such as Venomous Agent X). Gold in the boardroom fondled by Effortless Superiors, drug-crazed flying ants eaten to make the consumer drug-crazed. Countless lies. Poison disciples. Strange voices dwell at the garlic festival, finder's beepers enmesh is going to great. I drop a tear for Operation MAINSAIL.

FARMER'S WIFE KNOW PATTERNS

I've been sobering, gut feeling, needing a change in the weather, a roll in the heather. Flummoxed by two unsuccessful attempts to purchase my first-ever digital radio. Might have to shelve this particular desire, although it is quite a need. This and more sort of culminated into a quiet climax celebrated by Miles Johnston's Bases 3 video series about the Rendlesham Forest UFO weirdness, featuring its arch investigator, Brenda Butler, who is from East Anglia like me, so there is connexion. Especially liked Part 3, that gets pretty out-there, wherein Brenda speaks at length about the mysterious "Lizard Man" David Daniells (previously mentioned in Philip Kinsella & Brenda Butler, Sky Crash Throughout Time [Capall Bann, 2013]), whom she claims to have seen transform into a reptilian three times, appear/disappear and that. An internet search for him led to the 'invisible' Gresham College in the City of London and its massive collection of video talks, that includes an "UNUSUAL" section with a red unicorn head logo, which codes to a curious synch involving Gresham Industrial Estate, 1 Eastern Road, Aldershot. (NB: After I reported on this, Gresham College removed that particular section and logo, seemingly without explanation).

THIS MONTH NOTIFICATIONS

Some good, continuing on. Texts are being written, often to the spoken-word sound of freeflow presentation, that I been really enjoying while avoiding type pastiche media smacks of middle-class surface wank only fit for turn-off, the seemingly bottomless well that bungles the trick, even in short bursts, not somewhat happening. There were some curious dream 'posters' folded up, each quarter a whole, and a book the colour images printed on the normal absorbent not glossy page paper which makes it like a canvas painting (something I was doing back in the day without keeping any). Blokes pub laughing, blood on the hands, mostly pointing to British Military bully-rape, Jesus Army stereotypical cult abuse and horseshoe comedy. The scanners, lurkers and baited parties spin into my message but the general populace bubble in droves, chomping on audience idiot boards.

BROOMSTICK JOYS

Strange, should I mention that by the way, the above image I seem to have collaborated in features the hooded and masked stage magician, X (famed as a X Factor TV show contestant), 'subliminally' arranged as the five points of an invisible inverted pentagram. I can't remember the whyfors and where, but this work speaks helpfully.

THE END RELEASES THE START

Yes, the charm bracelets, that is power. Sometimes they are not worn but hung up in the room as a multi-faceted folk-weapon. The individual charm is there for a specific effect but the charms also amalgamate and interact with each other to a varying level for special purposes. Ergo the antidote to the Cryptocracy web, the Great Revelation of "What's really going on" in the global, almost certainly interdimensional, occult-conspiracy. More to come, when the stars are right...

25 MAY 2019
MOTION PICTURES

I am liking 'my' new short films, such as this one, entitled PP, especially as I am not really trying (don't mention "Wu Wei"), just jotting down odd poem lines that come to mind and collecting stand-out film sequences over a long period, then seeing what fits together when I don't want to do anything else or when the elements themselves show me.

MY CAREFULLY-WORDED ART

Click on image to see a larger version

Found this old Lettrist or Letterist art I made years ago with rub-on Letraset on green fluorescent or DayGlo paper, that had been relegated to a DVD cover. Wondered about blacklight paints, invented by the DayGlo Color Corporation in the 1930s, as a possible way-paver for the psychedelic 1960s.

This later provoked a symbol (left) of the human mind in time and space, then in Tescos my non-counterfeit £1 coin would not be accepted by the self-service machine. I tried at least six times, spinning it this way and that then forcefully throwing it in. I asked a staff member for assistance and he put it in successfully first time. As an employee who works around these devices he probably knew the trick or knack to get it to work, which "says it all really".

KEEP IT GUESSING

The words I wrote in my notebook are not the same as these words I am writing on the screen. It has something to do with the washing up liquid I bought inbetween. A two-day food/water fast, the ultra-cleanser, during which I walked back to the church that makes boredom hypnotic. On the way a headline about Russian Vomit Weapon; a poster up about the poster who criticised the dolphins, on dry land, up to the hand (reproduced here). The Frequency Desks are theory and practice.

UPDATIONS

Despite the gimmick optimism of this "I'm Backing Britain" thing, originally being an early example of State-sponsored mass social engineering, I am "Backing Britain" in a metaphysical sense, hence the new edition of my non-conformist poetry collection Rex Erects (first published 2018), that has several new poems added. This free PDF is here. I have also slightly updated my stream-of-consciousness occult-conspiracy publication Actuality (2018), to make broken links work and so. This free PDF is here.

MARK REEVE'S MEDIASCOPE

I have just published a probable one-off thing that consists of my freeform high/low cultural literary, film and audio media criticism. Entitled Mark Reeve's Mediascope and structured in a 58-page A5 PDF format, it can be downloaded for free here.

TELEVISUAL UFO DETECTION

Click on image to see a larger version

This is a letter of mine about the fascinating practice of contacting UFOs through the television set (click on the image for a more readable-sized version). It's just been published in the latest issue of Fortean Times (No.375, January 2019, p.76). The Leonard Lander Beyond The Dial (ORB Editions, 2009) work that is mentioned in the aforementioned text can be downloaded for free here. This aforementioned letter is an abridged version of an article on the subject that I originally wrote in 2009. The revised and expanded version will appear in my forthcoming yet-to-be-titled magazine project or other, to be published by the Spook Press.

THE CIVIL CRIMP

I have been reading The Double Star & Other Occult Fantasies by the fin de siècle wyrdo, Jane de La Vaudère (Snuggly Books, 2018). It's the first volume of her short stories published in English, and grooves nine options to dark strangeness, described in the blurb as "exquisitely hallucinatory," that sums the matter. The Decadence is strong, enpurpled, coding up the years to the anything gasp stint, that has always seemed a bit desperate for those who haven't done or gone near it. Those who have tend to end up between the tiles though, maybe get a weird wife from letters, married in handcuffs.

One who rode the outlaw was the outright legend William S. Burroughs, a man among us, who - like Austin Osman Spare & Antonin Artaud - I keep coming back to, aligned in many ways. A complementary listen that further developed the aforementioned mood was a recently digitised collection of Mr Burroughs' rare talk tapes, coupled with Betwixt, who is literally a "dream-girl", recounting her visions. The tangent is off-world, not the monopolising monolith.

THE NEXZEN TAPE

The montages I don't know. They do pose. Didn't ask if I was involved. Top Left seems to be orphaned children spilling out of their orphanage, perhaps ritual. Top Right is a lady holding a model ship she has not made. Bottom is a man sitting in a field of standing stones, probably off-island. The Funk Punk told me would take me. No memory but lightning. Next day separate, could not be in coming off of them. So here's a hay to the newly discovered NEXZEN tape mixed by OKOKians back in 2000 to evoke the particular atmosphere peculiar to it. Get it here.

THE BASE ARC

This static SSTV image was received on the Isle of Wight via amateur shortwave radio signals circa September 2018. I believe it to be programmic, seeping into the collective mind of the United Kingdom, invisible all around them, an adequate touring role. Ergo the visual ITC compilation by Keith J. Clark, founder of the iDigitalMedium Team. On the specifically audio front there be the fascinating atmosphere of the four EVP audio-cassettes made by British researcher Raymond Cass. Akin is The Portal real-time spirit communication device made by Steve Huff, that has a marvellously strange quality, in league with the online wide-band WebSDR radios here and here.

THE LPA NEWSLETTER

With the help of Big Tony, JP and Mehdi El Hajoui, I have goodly compiled almost all of the East London Section's London Psychogeographical Association Newsletter (ELPAN), plus its occasional extra inserts, originally self-published by the London Psychogeographical Association between Imbolc 1993 and Tahbrain 399 in the UK. The compilation is available for free in a single file, here [46mb PDF].

ROUTE & QUEST

I have started a new phase interesting, now working an amalgamation of British Earth Mysteries and the British Bigfoot. I am currently engaged in a freeform psychic quest in North Wales, the videos of which can be seen here.
