THE EXTRA LANE

The Spook Press have just published The Extra Lane, a strange approach review of some twelve long-deleted OKOK Society audio-cassette transgressions from the 1990s, which shews deeper what the OKOKians were attempting to achieve with their sonic art. Main text by Liam Olan. Additional text by Mark Reeve. Artworks by Rael. Available for free download here [5.6mb PDF].

LOGOMANIA

The founder of the Kellogg Company, William Keith Kellogg, is said to have signed each early Corn Flakes box personally, to show that it was a genuine Kellogg product. This seems to be backed up by the company itself. A stylised version of his signature is the company logo. But when inverted it shows a concealed '666'. The earliest Kellogg's signature-logo from 1906-1907 does not create '666' when inverted, but later versions do, including the very latest 2012 version:

Walt Disney's stylised signature-logo also contains a concealed '666', with the second '6' reversed:

Such codings represent happenstance or a more purposeful, sinister agenda, aimed to subliminally program children towards Satan and the Satanisms.

INCIDENT #89

My conceptual mail-art work Incident #89 (May 2019) was inspired by the Please place the enclosed "bird" in the palm of your hand... piece sent to me by the American artist, printer and publisher C.M. James in the early-1990s. At the time I was very disappointed by the assorted junk I was receiving from other mail-artists (till receipts, blobs of paint, inane chain-letters...), thus I thought his bird thing was an unusual and neat item, and wanted to make my own take on it. I have now done so.

The work consists of a repurposed found object (wooden 'bullet') with accompanying instructions, contained within a sealed 6×10cm white envelope with a sticker on the front proclaiming the title, further contained within a transparent resealable plastic bag. A limited edition of 37 numbered unsigned copies.

Responses to it were more-or-less mixed equally positive, neutral and negative, some not appreciating this piece as they "got the wrong end of the stick". Was overall disturbing thought-provoking, and from all the evidence gathered (some not mentioned here) I consider Incident #89 a success.

THE RAINBOW WOODS

A revised and enlarged edition of Stephen Barber's The Art of Destruction: The Vienna Action Group in Film, Performance & Revolt is going to hit the outlets in October this year, courtesy of Solar Books, but I don't need another sold object on this extremist art movement, cool though it is, because at this stage my psychic development enables me to tune into and read whatever I want to with my mind. I just latch onto the subject and imbibe it at a 'distance'. A Doubting Thomas, wanting the coldest Winter and no cover-ups. I've done nothing wrong.

A NATIVE ANOTHER

Click on image to see the A4-sized versionThis to the left is my as-yet untitled monochrome photomontage (30cm/69cm), that is a work in progress I'm very happy with. Click on it for a larger view. It looks better as it is in real life, because in this here depiction the mobile-phone camera has angled the form, which is actually square, and of course has not captured the true detail and ambiance of the piece. It has previously featured in my short video-poem Cropped (2018), and if it's not finished and sold I will put it outside.

I DONE NEW COLLABS

Every man is an island and reality is a game of malcontent tennis, however I was recently involved in two satisfactory collaborations, namely Non-Profit, a series of pro-Situationist ontological jolt lie-low lawnmower art by the nonconformist poster boys Rael & myself, for the Spectacle in Aspic project, and The Fundamentals, an esoteric social commentary by Rael, Curtis-Roi, myself & the Sheffieldpostkartengruppe.

HUNT POETICS

London, 1971. Peter Pan is next to Lovecraft. The china dog sits on the crooked shelf. The out-of-shot man with a briefcase is going to buy a car coat. On the quay the snaking ropes.

There was something extragalactic going on during the 1960s-1970s. Definite cognations to the interdimensional angle magic involving suspended frames affecting a mostly unsuspecting audience on the set of the BBC TV music show Top of the Pops (29 April 1971), as shown in the above photo. I sometimes wonder how much else of that gaudy alien decade was the result of such covert angularity.

PORRIDGE & SHADOW

Sexton Ming's Porridge Van have set one of Curtis-Roi & myself's poems to music, namely 'The Fundamental Festival', that can be heard and/or bought here, as can the rest of the album, The Song Remains As Lame (2019), here. The ensemble consists of Sexton Ming & Jason Williams, both long-riders of this storm, but have not tied the knot, unlike Phil Lynott. They also sent me their self-titled split-CD with Cromlech Shadow (2019), now all-sold. You could call it an authentic example of uncommercial sound-montage, destined to be shunned by the commonsensers. Music I suppose, but not as many know it. Instruments are abused and put though fizzing effects, voice on top keeping it together, providing a focus you can't quite decipher, like a cued-up Quentin Crisp on a good day/maybe a bad hair day. And so it continues, unrelenting in its sonic assault and pepper (some say condiments are better than the actual food), rampant thrusts of genuine strangeness and anti-jurisdiction stance, weird uncle bubbling over. Jarringly pleasant (apart from one track of what resembles 1970s Sound Poetry gone psychotropically wrong inside a prepared bathroom) Frankenstein sex. Comes in a mirrored mannequin head-and-hand sleeve, with an A3 monochrome King's Horse vs. Suffragette agit-prop poster, plus an 8-page all-colour booklet of figurative/collage art, whose jacket potatoes see through boiled vodka glasses.

MANY MANSIONS TRIP

This year will be very ludic, trippy, the otherdimensional horn. We will see through a glass clearly the didactic revealings, as in the code reveal: 2020 = 20/20 Vision, that I've been saying on about for a long while now. Public trust in what is and what is not reality; of what is beyond and what comes here, and who of us goes there. This is legit, the kaleidoscope eye and I.
